Mitt Romney Eyes Orrin Hatch’s Soon To Be Vacant Senate Seat

Do we really need any more swamp creatures inside the beltway? And haven’t we had enough of Mitt Romney?

His unabashed disdain for the president certainly won’t endear him to the people of Utah. In a state that went 18 p0ints over Hillary for Trump, it’s hard to believe that Romney would make any kind of a decent showing in a senate race there.

Here’s the results of the 2016 election, via the New York Times.

Donald J. Trump has won Utah’s 6 electoral votes. Trump has 204,555 more votes than Hillary Clinton, with 100 percent reporting. Donald J. Trump is up by 18 points with all precincts reporting.

Independent Journal Review has this:

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney released a congratulatory statement following Sen. Orrin Hatch’s (R-Utah) retirementannouncement on Tuesday, leading some to further speculate that the former Republican presidential nominee will run for the Utah Senate seat later this year.

“I join the people of Utah in thanking my friend, Senator Orrin Hatch for his more than forty years of service to our great state and nation,” Romney wrote on Facebook.

… The former governor wished Hatch and his wife Elaine “all the best in their future endeavors.”

Romney also tweeted out his comment, which prompted many users to reply simply with: “He’s running,” referring to the possibility that the veteran politician may launch a campaign for the soon-to-be free seat.

Romney didn’t mention whether he plans to run in his statement on Tuesday, however, reports have been swirling for quite some time that he plans to campaign for Hatch’s seat if he were to retire.

Let’s hope a less swampy candidate steps up to the plate in Utah. The president needs support to get things cleared out in Washington.
