House Republicans finally released a bill to kill Obamacare on Monday according to a report from the New York Post.
The New York Post reported:
“The measure would roll back the government’s health care role and is expected to result in fewer people having insurance coverage.
House committees planned votes on the legislation Wednesday. That will launch perhaps the year’s defining battle in Congress, and GOP success is by no means assured because of internal divisions.
The plan would repeal the law’s fines on people who don’t purchase health insurance. Instead of the statute’s income-based premium subsidies, people would get tax credits based on age. The subsidies would phase out for higher-earning people.”
The move to dismantle Obamacare has been a long time in the making and should give Americans a small sigh of relief that Republicans are going to follow through on what they said they would do.
During the 2016 presidential election, then candidate Donald Trump talked about the need to get rid of Obamacare and made the issue one of his top priorities.
Back in January President Trump tweeted:“The ‘Unaffordable’ Care Act will soon be history!”
