Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA) said at a House Democrats forum on Wednesday that refugee cap put into effect by the Trump administration was not nearly high enough, according NTK Network.
Transcript from the video:
“…what’s true and what’s not true, and then also to try and take away this narrative that in general immigrants are criminals and maybe there are few exceptions here and there but in general that’s the narrative they’re putting out with everything and so then it makes it very difficult for people to focus on the compassion of kids who are fleeing and I think on the refugee situation really figuring out how we go back to realizing that 50,000 refugees is nothing in this world, and we really have a duty to the world and to our history as a country to really make sure that we continue to increase not decrease those numbers.
President Trump’s refugee cap of 50,000 is less than half of Obama’s refugee cap of 110,000.
It’s pretty sad that this Democratic politician believes that she has a duty to the world and not to the American people who are the ones that elected her and pay her salary.
