The Iowa caucus has turned into a huge embarrassment for Democrats.
It has been almost a week, and no one is completely sure about the results.
Blame is flying every which way.
On CNN, DNC Chair Tom Perez blamed the Iowa Democrats. From Real Clear Politics:
TOM PEREZ, DNC CHAIR: Well, again, the iowa democratic party runs the caucus. Okay? And they — what happened was unacceptable. At the same time we came in there. You know, this was unacceptable. That’s why we had people — we still have people on the ground there. We completed the counting last night. And we’re going to continue not only to work in iowa, but also to learn the lessons of iowa. So moving forward we are — we have caucuses in the remaining states that are — that run smoothly.
Meanwhile, other Democrats are calling on Tom Perez to resign.
From The Hill:
Key House Democrat says Perez must go: ‘He doesn’t lead on anything’
A top Democratic voice on election reform is calling for the ouster of Tom Perez, the powerful chairman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) who has come under fire following the Iowa caucuses.
Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), chairwoman of the House Administration Committee’s subpanel on elections, said Perez has failed to take responsibility for the Iowa vote-counting debacle as it unfolded this week, instead shifting blame on lower-ranking party leaders in Des Moines.
“It’s a lack of leadership,” Fudge told The Hill on Friday during a brief interview in the Capitol. “If you have the Iowa situation you don’t throw them under the bus, you stand up and you support and you try to fix it. He doesn’t lead on anything.”

#TomPerezResign: DNC Chair Under Fire for Iowa Disaster, Favoritism for Billionaire Oligarch Bloomberg
Calls for Tom Perez to step down as the head of the Democratic National Committee grew louder Tuesday in the aftermath of the Iowa caucus fiasco in which party mismanagement of the process delayed the results from Monday night’s contest and left the 2020 Democratic presidential primary in disarray.
“The Iowa caucus debacle is so insulting to the candidates, their volunteers, the caucus-goers, and the DNC’s own process,” tweeted HuffPost senior reporter Zach Carter. “Tom Perez has to resign.”
Multiple petitions on Change.org called on Perez to relinquish his position as chair of the DNC. One of the most popular ones had over 13,600 signatures at press time. #ResignTomPerez trended on Twitter overnight.
Imagine if a similar mess happens in another state.
How could they screw this up so badly?
