Larry Schweikart is a political analyst who has written for a number of publications.
He recently published a series of tweets in which he argues that Trump has inverted the parties.
This is a great point. It helps to explain why the media has had such a hard time covering Trump.
It also speaks to the inability of Democrats to land a significant punch on Trump.
Take a look below:
1) Think of the radical transformation of the Republican Party since 2015 all due to President Trump.
2) Prior to 2015, the general perception was that the GOP was the party of big business, the rich, foreign interventions, and free (that is, unfree) trade.

3) The DemoKKKrats—in theory—were the party of the "working class," anti-war, and protectionism.
4) In just three years, Trump has completely inverted the positions of the two parties.
5) Today, the GOP is the party of the middle class and blue-collar industrial groups.

6) Despite (though probably, in part, because of) a massive military buildup, the Trump GOP is now the party of non-intervention and peace.
7) Trump is rapidly forcing blue-collar workers to abandon the DemoKKKrats as only he is working to save their jobs.

8) Likewise, the DemoKKKrats (wrongly) had for about 50 years had the mantle of the party of "civil rights." Without revisiting the real history here, that was the perception.
9) Now, under Trump, only the GOP is fighting for the civil rights of the unborn; of children not to be

10) The DemoKKKrats, meanwhile, have become the pander to the rich party; the party of radical homosexuality; the party of death in almost all cases of the most innocent; the party of slavery and human trafficking; and the party of perpetual war.

11) In short, The Trump Flip has positioned the GOP—if they are smart enough to claim it—with the platform for the next 30 years. It is a hands-down winning platform and eventually even Silicon Valley will be begging to join, if only to get goodies again.

Democrats have helped Trump in this effort.
The more successful he has become, the further to the radical left they have gone.
Now they seem completely out of touch with most of America.
