Bill Maher Says Oprah Winfrey Is Democrats Only Hope Of Beating Trump In 2020 (VIDEO)

Bill Maher really wants a Democrat to beat Donald Trump in 2020, but he doesn’t believe any of the candidates currently running are a sure thing.

He recently said on his show that the only person who could definitely beat Trump is Oprah Winfrey.

Maher mocks 2020 Democrats, implores Oprah to run: She is only ‘sure-thing winner’

HBO’s Bill Maher implored Oprah Winfrey to run against President Trump in 2020 while expressing doubts about the current crop of 24 candidates on the Democratic side, arguing she is the only “sure-thing winner” for the opposition party.

“I am telling you that at this particular moment in history, in this particular election year, she is the only candidate who is a sure-thing winner for the Democrats,” Maher said Friday during his show “Real Time.”

“No pressure,” the host added.

Maher also noted the power of candidates who are stars in modern politics.

“Never underestimate the power of being in people’s living rooms for decades. That’s what got Trump elected,” Maher said. “This is now an as-seen-on-TV country.”

“There really is no underestimating the power of celebrity in modern American politics,” he later explained. “It’s not the way it’s supposed to be be, it’s not the way I’d like it to be, but we officially live in a post-literate, post-truth, star-f—er society, and this is going to be the dirtiest campaign ever.”

Unfortunately for Bill Maher, Oprah has already said she won’t run.

Reuters reported in 2018:

Oprah Winfrey says ‘definitely not’ running for U.S. president

Oprah Winfrey put to rest any lingering questions about a potential 2020 bid for the presidency, declaring on a late-night talk show on Thursday that she was “definitely not running.”

The media mogul, appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, was emphatic in her response to host Kimmel’s question about whether she would run.

“Where do I look into the camera? I am definitely not running for president,” Winfrey said over cries of “no” from the studio audience.

Even if she did change her mind and run, there’s no evidence to back up Maher’s claim.

Winfrey could lost to Trump like any of the other candidates already in the race.
