Bowe Bergdahl is back in the news.
“Many of the men who served with Bowe Bergdahl have described him as a deserter but that didn’t stop Obama from trading multiple foreign terrorists for him a few years ago.
Now Bergdahl wants Obama to give him a pardon. Anyone surprised? The Hill reports:
‘Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive for five years and freed in an exchange for five Taliban prisoners, has asked President Obama to pardon him before leaving the White House.'”
Lt. Col. Tony Shaffer, who was part of the negotiations, told Bill O’Reilly the US paid out $5 billion and traded five top Taliban detainees for Bergdahl.
Bergdahl’s parents were celebrated by President Obama in May 2014 after Bergdahl’s release:
Then, there was an investigation.
And the investigation found that Bergdahl should be charged with “desertion and misbehavior before an enemy.”
His platoon mates say Bergdahl should be court-martialed.
His platoon leader, Sergeant Matt Vierkant, spoke about it to Fox & Friends today:

From the video:
“The bottom line is: He has to be accountable for his actions. It’s nobody’s fault but his that he was put in that position. So, he has nobody to blame but himself. It’s unfortunate that he was a prisoner for five years, but it’s his own fault. I believe we should let the military be professionals and conduct themselves in a professional manner and hold the trial.”
The men closest to the situation say Bergdahl should stand trial. Bergdahl shouldn’t be pardoned.
