New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was recently questioned by the press about the changing number of people who died of COVID in New York nursing homes as a result of his policies.
He was clearly defensive and trying to deflect blame but one part of his answer was truly stunning.
At one point he actually used the words “Who cares?”
The Daily Wire reports:
Governor Cuomo On The Issue Of Where Coronavirus Patients Died: ‘Who Cares? … They Died.’
New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo faced questions on Friday about his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic as it pertains to nursing homes, which comes just a day after the state’s attorney general indicated that nursing home deaths in the state were undercounted by approximately 50 percent.
Here’s part of his response:
“96% of the people who die are older people with comorbidities, which happens to be the population that lives in nursing homes,” he continued. “It’s continuing today, even with all the testing that we’re doing. If you look at New York State, we have a lower percentage of deaths in nursing homes than other states. A third of all deaths in this nation are from nursing homes. New York state we’re only about 28% … but were below the national average in number of deaths in nursing homes.”
“But who cares? 3,328 died in a hospital, died in a nursing home. They died,” Cuomo continued. “And I dealt with the loss of my father. The pain is so incredible. And inexplicable. And why and why and why. It’s a tragedy. It’s a tragedy. And I understand maybe the instinct to blame or to find some relief for the pain that you’re feeling. But it is a tragedy and it’s a tragedy that continues today.

Can you even imagine the media’s reaction if Trump had said this?
