Hillary Clinton got the Democratic nomination for President less than a year ago but Rep. Sewell of Alabama won’t even call her the leader of the party. That was fast.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
Dem Rep Won’t Say Clinton Is Leader of the Democratic Party
Rep. Terri Sewell (D., Ala.) on Friday would not say if Hillary Clinton was the de facto leader of the Democratic Party.
Sewell was talking with MSNBC host Craig Melvin about Clinton’s commencement address earlier at Wellesley College, and Melvin called out the Alabama Democrat when she tried to change the topic.
Melvin first played a clip of Clinton’s speech and then asked Sewell directly if Clinton was still considered the leader of the Democratic Party.
“I don’t know about that, but I can tell you on listening to that clip of her, all I can say is amen, sister Hillary,” Sewell said before bringing up Russian influence in the 2016 election.
“You pulled a sidestep there, you didn’t answer my question,” Melvin said. “Who’s the leader of the Democratic Party right now?”
“Listen we have many exciting leaders within the Democratic party,” Sewell said. “I’m very excited about the excitement and enthusiasm on the ground.”
