Hillary Clinton Appearance On Howard Stern Show Sparks Speculation About Her Jumping Into 2020 Race

Hillary Clinton made a guest appearance on the Howard Stern Show this week, sparking new speculation over whether or not she is planning to jump into the 2020 race.

The interview truly seemed to be an effort to ‘humanize’ Hillary. Why else would she be doing this unless she was testing the waters?

The New York Post reports:

Hillary Clinton drops biggest hint yet that she’s mulling a 2020 presidential run

The strongest indicator yet that Hillary’s mulling a 2020 run? She appeared Wednesday, for the first time ever, on Howard Stern.

There was hardly a pretense she was there to promote the book she co-wrote with daughter Chelsea, long ago a bestseller.

As those who listen to the show know, Stern publicly begged Hillary to appear during the 2016 campaign. After Donald Trump won, Stern said one guest shot could have moved the needle her way.

“If she had come on the show …,” Stern mused in May. “The way I helped Donald was I let him come on and be a personality. Whether you liked him or not … people related to him as a human being.”

Hillary, it’s clear, was after exactly that — relatability, long her white whale.

One can only ask: Why now, if she has no plans to run yet again?

Watch a short clip below:

There is an argument to be made that she would not be accepted by the left.

Kyle Smith writes at National Review:

Yet the only people who want Hillary to run are comics, Republicans, Republican comics . . . . people like me. Democrats realize she blew it. Democratic fundraisers are furious with her for being such a poor candidate that she created the Trump presidency.

There was an open path to the White House, she had a huge fundraising advantage, she had only token opposition from a batty old socialist in the primary, she had Barack Obama’s blessing, and she lost against a total novice because people just can’t stand her.

Her token opposition turned into the siege of Leningrad. Her convention speech underwhelmed. She did not and indeed could not explain the clandestine means she set up for removing her communications from public scrutiny, committing the felony of taking classified information out of secure channels in the process.

She did not and indeed could not offer a better rationale for her candidacy than a combination of “I deserve this” and “Trump is worse.”

This is not to say she won’t run. Maybe she will.

The most important thing to keep in mind is this.

If Hillary lost to Trump for a second time, she would never be able to show her face in public again.

She knows this.
