Jimmy Kimmell used to be a late night comedy host in the tradition of people like Johnny Carson. Those days are over. Jimmy has no interest in interviewing celebrities or telling jokes anymore. All he wants to do is advance the agenda of the Democrats and argue policy. That’s not the job he was hired to do but it’s clearly the job he wants to do.
Philip Wegmann writes at the Washington Examiner:
Jimmy Kimmel jumps the partisan shark
When Jimmy Kimmel wants to make a point, he trots his toddler out in front of the cameras. When Democrats need political cover, they trot out Kimmel.
Beginning with the debate over repealing Obamacare and culminating in a gritty technical fight over government funding, the host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Show” has transformed from a well-meaning funnyman, to a policy advocate, to finally a partisan flak.
For whatever reason, Kimmel on Wednesday night felt qualified to lecture a low-level Paul Ryan aide on Twitter about a short-term, stop-gap continuing resolution with an attached six-year reauthorization of the Children’s Health Insurance Program but without permanent reform to Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. Or as Kimmel oversimplified, making kids “a bargaining chip.”
Shame on you for making CHIP a bargaining chip, shame on you for tying our children's lives to immigration and shame on you and @SpeakerRyan for doing ANYTHING other than funding CHIP cleanly and IMMEDIATELY.

Kimmell doesn’t know what he’s talking about but if probably makes him feel better.
He shouldn’t be surprised when half of the country stops watching his show. Late night entertainment isn’t supposed to be lectures from Liberals.
