Even Former Democratic Presidential Candidate Bernie Sanders thinks the party is struggling. The Independent Senator from Vermont told CBS'”Face the Nation” that he thinks the Democrats’ model is failing.
The Hill reports:
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday that the model of the Democratic Party is failing.
“I think what is clear to anyone who looks at where the Democratic Party today is, that the model of the Democratic Party is failing,” Sanders told CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
Sanders cited President Trump’s win, the GOP-controlled Congress, and Republican victories in state legislatures as reasons why Democrats are in trouble.
Sanders believes the party need to become even more liberal. During his presidential campaign, Senator Sanders emerged as the face of the progressive movement in the United States. Sanders has been extremely critical of President Donald Trump’s policies.
Donald Trump said he would stand with the working people of this country. Good speech but unfortunately it wasn’t true.

You don’t stand with workers when you propose massive tax cuts for the rich and take health care away from millions of Americans.

He says the Democratic Party needs to stop relying on donations from large corporations and instead focus on getting money from smaller sources.
It should be noted that even though Bernie Sanders preaches a message of economic equality, he is still much better off than the majority of Americans. The former presidential candidate owns multiple houses. The Motley Fool reports that in 2015, Sanders had an estimated net worth of about $800,000. Though that is considerably less than what some politicians are worth, he is way more well off than the majority of his working class fan base.
