Key Dem Says No To Biden’s $3.5 Trillion Spending Plan

Biden’s agenda just took another hit.

Dem Senator Joe Manchin just announced he will not support Joe Biden’s $3.5 trillion spending plan.

Manchin’s vote is important in the passing of the spending plan.

From The Washington Examiner:

“First of all,” the senator responded, “everything that the speaker … has mentioned, I have been for and voted for. We spent $5.4 trillion. And a lot of that really continues way into next year. We haven’t dispersed it all.”

He added, “Only thing I’ve said, put a pause on. Shouldn’t we basically put a pause on with all the unknowns that we have right now we’re facing? Don’t know where COVID’s going to go. Inflation is still very high and rampant. And then on top of that, the geopolitical unrest that we have going on, we might be challenged there. Don’t you think we ought to be prepared for that since we don’t have the emergency that we had with the American Rescue Plan, when the president first came in and we passed?”

Manchin then went on CNN to reiterate his opposition to the spending bill.

“He will not have my vote on $3.5” Manchin said.

Senator Bernie Sanders lashed out at Manchin saying that his budget ceiling is “not acceptable.”

From The New York Post:

Sanders (I-Vt.) appeared on CNN after Manchin and lashed out at the West Virginia lawmaker for setting the ceiling so low.

“No, it’s absolutely not acceptable to me. I don’t think it’s acceptable to the president, to the American people, or to the overwhelming majority of the people in the Democratic Caucus,” Sanders told host Dana Bash.

“This is a consequential bill, it is hard to put a bill like this together. At the end of the day I believe we will,” Sanders said.
