Law And Order Creating New Spinoff Show Based On ‘Hate Crimes’

If you’ve watched Law & Order in recent years, you know that the show is already fairly left wing. They have unfairly represented Conservatives, the Tea Party, and even a character based on Ann Coulter. Now they are going to devote an entire show to supposed hate crimes. Do you think it will lean left politically?

The Hill reports:

‘Law & Order’ creating spinoff about hate crimes

NBC announced Tuesday that it will be making a “Law & Order” spinoff focusing on hate crimes.

The series, called “Law & Order: Hate Crimes” has a 13-episode commitment and will be set in New York, according to Variety.

“As with all of my crime shows, I want to depict what’s really going on in our cities and shine a light on the wide-ranging victims and show that justice can prevail,” said the show’s producer, Dick Wolf.

Wolf added that he hopes the show will initiate a national dialogue about hate crimes, in the same way he believes “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” normalized conversations about sexual assault.

“Twenty years ago when ‘SVU’ [Special Victims Unit] began, very few people felt comfortable coming forward and reporting these crimes, but when you bring the stories into people’s living rooms — with characters as empathetic as Olivia Benson — a real dialogue can begin,” Wolf said.
