This was awkward. An entire theater of leftist elites clearly didn’t know what to think or say when the former White House press secretary rolled onto the stage.
Melissa McCarthy was clearly stunned and the rest of the audience couldn’t decide to applaud the surprising spoof or reject it. Because, after all, a Republican was in the midst of liberal territory. It was kind of like he was trespassing and you could read it on their faces.
Watch this and see if you don’t agree.

SPICER: This will be the largest audience to witness an Emmy’s, period, both inpreson and around the world.
Variety reported this:
Stephen Colbert unsurprisingly went political during Sunday night’s Emmys, and was joined by none other than President Donald Trump’s former Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, in his opening monologue.
Spicer rolled out on his signature podium as Colbert joked about the Emmys’ audience size, making a jab at Spicer’s “alternative facts” regarding Trump’s inauguration crowd size.
“Melissa McCarthy, everyone,” Colbert said as he left the stage, referencing McCarthy’s spot-on impressions of him on “Saturday Night Live.” McCarthy, who won an Emmy for her portrayal of Spicer last weekend, could be seen smiling in the audience.
Pretty brave of Spicer, but he was a true champ and took it all in fun.
