Megyn Kelly’s debut at NBC is being received as less than spectacular. Her ratings were less than impressive and she’s getting quite the ribbing from her colleagues.
The LA Times reports how Vladimir made short work of Megyn during their interview:
The hour-long news show promised to be “a tough conversation” between Kelly and the Russian leader. But for Putin, it was child’s play as he displayed an elusive and ultimately dismissive demeanor toward Kelly.
The interview, which was teased for weeks on NBC as a must-see exclusive, lasted less than 10 minutes. But that was just about enough time to confirm that she’s still not a great interviewer, and he’s still one of the most deceptive interview subjects around.
Short of asking “How many people have you killed with your bare hands, Mr. Putin?,” Kelly did everything she could to get something out of him other than smirks, huffs and “nyets.”
Forbes said her interview fell flat:
Last night, Megyn Kelly’s much-anticipated Sunday news magazine, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, premiered on NBC to only moderate ratings and unimpressed critics, despite scoring a headline-grabbing interview with Russian leader Vladimir Putin.
The big-name host and high-profile guest garnered 6.1 million viewers and an 0.8 Nielsen rating among adults 18-49. The show’s head-to-head competitor, CBS’ highly regarded 60 Minutes, drew 6.6 million viewers for a repeat episode, but only scored a 0.6 rating in the advertiser-coveted demo. Both news programs faced tough competition from ABC, which aired Game 2 of the NBA finals, as well as a Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night special that aired in direct competition with Sunday Night and 60 Minutes.
Breitbart reports The Daily Show also had some fun at Megyns expense. Here’s the video.
The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah and Michelle Wolf mercilessly mocked Megyn Kelly’s NBC debut this week, in which the former Fox News star landed a high-profile interview with Russian president Vladimir Putin on her newsmagazine show Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly.
After playing clips of the interview, host Noah brought out Daily Show correspondent Wolf, who said that seeing someone “so conniving trying to manipulate the American public was disgusting.”
When Noah said he agreed that watching Putin’s responses was indeed disgusting, Wolf said she was referring to Kelly.
“Last night on her new show, she acted like she didn’t spend the last 12 years of her life as a soldier in Fox News’ culture war,” Wolf said. The Daily Show then played a clip from Kelly’s NBC show in which she chided the media for its “rude behavior” and asked “Can’t we all just get along?”
“Oh, I’m sorry, now we’re all supposed to be friends?” Wolf continued. “Now that you’re NBC you’re acting all peaceful like some sort of Mahatma Blondie?”
