Americans have been hopping mad over this issue ever since Obama punished schools that didn’t create transgender bathroom policies.
Now, the Supreme court is backing off imposing Obama’s policy.
Independent Journal Review has the story:
“The Trump administration reversed that guideline in late February, saying that states and public schools should have the authority to make their own decisions without federal interference. This policy shift directly impacted the case involving Gavin Grimm, a transgender Virginia high school student suing his school district to get access to restrooms that align with his gender identity.
Grimm was born a female but began to identify as male after his freshman year in high school and legally changed his name. At first, Grim was allowed to use the boy’s restroom until complaints surfaced and the school board initiated a policy saying that restroom was ‘limited to the corresponding biological genders.’ Grimm then sued the school, arguing that the new policy made him feel stigmatized and isolated.
This pivotal policy decision caused the Supreme Court to cancel the hearing scheduled for later this month in Grimm’s case. It has now been referred back to the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals for further consideration in “light of new guidance documents issued by the Trump administration.”
It’s a new day in America!
