Ted Cruz announced he’s throwing his support behind The Donald. But at this point, does it make a difference with so little time left in the campaign? Maybe… Wonder what changed his mind?
Maybe it was his seriously sinking poll numbers after he slapped Trump in the face at the RNC by not throwing his support behind him then. The once popular Texan took a huge hit in popularity in his own state after that fiasco.
Perhaps his conscience got the better of him and decided Hillary would be a worse alternative. Who knows. Politico has his statement to the public here.
“After many months of careful consideration, of prayer and searching my own conscience, I have decided that on Election Day, I will vote for the Republican nominee, Donald Trump,” he wrote in a Facebook post.

Cruz said he endorsed both because of his primary pledge to support the party nominee, as well as his concerns about Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“Last year, I promised to support the Republican nominee. And I intend to keep my word,” Cruz said. “Second, even though I have had areas of significant disagreement with our nominee, by any measure Hillary Clinton is wholly unacceptable — that’s why I have always been #NeverHillary.”
The announcement follows months of waiting for Cruz’s stance on Trump, as well as the political ramifications of an endorsement following the Texas senator’s bitter, personal primary race against Trump.
There were signs that the thaw has commenced  just days ago.

Perhaps the two have struck a behind closed doors deal to bury the hatchet, or perhaps Ted realized what everyone else already knows. You can’t get far rattling the cage of those with more political capital than you. Perhaps he has decided to flow with the prevailing winds of the most recent polling and give up the primary grudge. Regardless, it’s a good move, with just a few weeks left until election day, and hopefully some of the “Never Trumpers” will follow suit.
