Who Would Have Thought Planned Parenthood Would Meet Its Demise Through Obamacare?

Are you grinning yet? It’s almost too good to be true! It could be, that the death of Obamacare could be the very thing that also takes down Planned Parenthood.

Independent Journal Review reports:

The Republican Party is bringing forward a bill that would defund Planned Parenthood. The Hill reports:

Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) said Thursday that defunding Planned Parenthood will be included as part of a bill to repeal ObamaCare.

Ryan said cutting off federal funds to the organization will be included in a “reconciliation” bill that also repeals the core of ObamaCare.

The GOP is looking to repeal the ObamaCare provisions the exact same way they were passed—that is to say, through reconciliation.

The reconciliation process prevents Democrats from launching a filibuster against the measure, meaning Republicans won’t need 60 votes to win on defunding.

“Planned Parenthood legislation will be in our reconciliation bill,” Ryan said, without providing any more details.

Here’s how Planned Parenthood is spinning the GOP action.

The Washington Post reports that the move to defund could more than cripple Planned Parenthood.

The group reported receiving $553 million in government funding in 2014, about half of its total revenue. Congress has barred federal funding for abortions since 1976, but health providers that offer abortions are eligible to use federal funds for other services.

Planned Parenthood estimated that roughly 40 percent of its funding would be at risk should defunding legislation become law. Democrats are gearing up to defend against GOP attempts to attack the group. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other lawmakers rallied Thursday afternoon on Capitol Hill with executives from Planned Parenthood and other women’s health organizations.

Well, karma has come back to bite the leftist agenda. It’s about time.
