Megyn Kelly drags down ‘Today’ ratings

Megyn Kelly is attracting the lowest audience for the “Today” franchise in more than a decade.

Kelly, who debuted her morning show in September in the third hour of the “Today” franchise, averaged 2.29 million viewers in the November sweeps period, The Wrap reports. That’s the lowest for any hour in the franchise since 2000.

When it comes to the 25-54 age demographic coveted by advertisers, Kelly is doing even worse, The Wrap reports. In November, her show averaged 699,000 daily viewers in that age group. Among 18-49 year-olds, her show averages 548,000 viewers. Both numbers are lower than last year.

Still, Kelly’s November ratings performance is an improvement over October, per The Wrap.

Kelly jumped to NBC earlier this year in a $20 million deal to boost the third hour of “Today.” Not only are the ratings flat, they are a poor lead-in for the fourth hour of “Today,” normally hosted by Kathy Lee Griffin and Hoda Kotb, per The Wrap.

How much longer will network executives back her up with these low ratings?
