The FOX News Insider reports:
‘A Year of Substantial Accomplishment’: McConnell on Year 1 of the Trump Presidency
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said President Donald Trump’s first year in office has been “a year of substantial accomplishment.”
On “The Story” Thursday night, McConnell pointed to the appointment of Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, the appointment of 12 circuit court judges – the most of any first-year president – and comprehensive tax reform as major achievements.
“We had a lot of incentive to do tax reform. We’ve wanted to do it for years. We were thrilled that we finally had a president who would sign the bill,” McConnell said.
He added that although the Trump administration and the 115th Congress have been criticized for much of the year, he said they should be measured by what they accomplished by the conclusion of their first congressional session.
“Now it has just about ended, and I think it’s been a year of substantial accomplishment,” McConnell said.
