Democrats keep wasting their time talking about getting rid of the Electoral College. It makes their far left supporters feel better but it’s not going to happen.
On Tuesday, even an anchor on MSNBC admitted that there is zero chance of Democrats doing this.
The Washington Free Beacon reports:
MSNBC Anchor: Democrats Have ‘Zero Percent’ Chance of Abolishing Electoral College
MSNBC’s Hallie Jackson on Tuesday poured cold water on a Democratic plan with “a zero percent chance” of abolishing with the Electoral College.
Speaking with MSNBC regular Jeffrey Rosen, Jackson wondered why Democrats were making so much noise about the moonshot proposal.
“We’ve already laid out, Jeffrey, just how high of a bar you’d have to clear so that this would actually happen, and, like, it’s a really high bar,” Jackson said. “So are Democrats at this point just wasting their time?”
Rosen is the president and CEO of the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.
Jackson wondered at the scale of the effort to “get rid of the Electoral College,” despite the long odds. “They’re looking to 100 percent change how presidents are elected in this country, even though this thing has virtually a 0 percent chance of actually happening,” she said.

A writer named Jon Gabriel recently wrote a great op-ed about why we need the Electoral College.
From USA Today:
The Electoral College is undemocratic? Of course. That’s why it works.
We’ve listened to two years of complaints about how President Donald Trump is destroying the norms of democracy. But as the endless parade of Democrats announce their candidacy for the White House, they want to destroy several norms of their own.
Of course, there are the policy moonshots such as the Green New Deal and Medicare for All. Several candidates, however, recommend packing the Supreme Court with new judges. Instead of the nine justices we’ve had for a century and a half, Beto O’Rourke and Pete Buttigieg would expand the high court to 15.
A radical idea gaining even more traction is abolishing the Electoral College.
Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris of California and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, along with O’Rourke and Buttigieg, have signed on to this effort, despite it requiring fundamental changes to the Constitution…
If the Electoral College were abandoned, party front-runners would camp out exclusively in urban areas. The pancake breakfasts in Des Moines, Iowa, and Denver, Colorado, would be replaced with mammoth rallies in Los Angeles and New York City.
That’s it in a nutshell. The Electoral College protects us from the tyranny of mob rule.
