MSNBC and CNN have been riding a ratings roller coaster for two years. They still never had great ratings, but the Russia story was good for business. Night after night, liberals tuned in to find out if Trump had been arrested yet and people like Rachel Maddow rode that hope all the way to the bank.
Now the gravy train is over. With the Mueller Investigation concluded and no proof of Russia collusion, liberal cable news fans are realizing they were sold a lie.
The Daily Caller reports:
MSNBC’S RACHEL MADDOW LOSES HALF-A-MILLION VIEWERS AFTER IMPLOSION OF COLLUSION CONSPIRACY
MSNBC host Rachel Maddow lost half-a-million viewers in just one week after special counsel Robert Mueller’s report indicated that he did not find enough evidence to support collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Maddow has been one of the most prominent voices on the collusion conspiracy, spending most of her programs over the past two years on allegations that President Donald Trump coordinated with the Russian government to win the 2016 presidential election. Maddow struggled to hold back tears as she delivered her opening monologue last Friday, clearly stunned that Mueller did not bring any indictments against the president or his family.
The implosion of the Russian collusion narrative damaged more than just Maddow’s ego — it also destroyed her ratings, at least temporarily.
“The Rachel Maddow Show” on MSNBC delivered monster ratings for the network, cementing the cable host as the left-wing foil to Fox News’ Sean Hannity. Maddow consistently finished 1st or 2nd in overall cable news ratings over the past year, sometimes garnering more than 3 million viewers.
But according to The Daily Beast, Maddow’s show dropped 500,000 viewers in just one week after the Mueller report dropped.

CNN also suffered a ratings blow, but not FOX News. Who could have guessed?
The American Thinker reports:
CNN and MSNBC ratings plummet, Fox News triumphs in wake of ‘no collusion’
The long awaited news on Sunday that the Mueller Report had exonerated President Trump of collusion with Russia instantly shed major new light on the complicity of the mainstream media in perpetrating the mass delusion of collusion. The news also had an immediate and potentially game-changing impact on the cable news television ratings.
Starting on Sunday and continuing all day Monday, CNN and MSNBC — the two cable “news” channels that over the past two years have morphed into high-impact electronic facilitators of the anti-Trump resistance — saw their ratings plummet…precipitously. Meanwhile, the Fox News Channel (FNC), the only mainstream media outlet to even question the whole collusion meme from the outset, trounced the competition.
On Monday, Fox News had more than twice as many viewers — in both total numbers and in the preferred 25- to 54-year-old demographic — than MSNBC and CNN combined. According to Nielsen Media Research, FNC surpassed CNN and MSNBC combined in every hour on Monday from 5 P.M. to 12 midnight, while CNN had its second lowest weekday prime-time ratings of 2019 and its third lowest demo of the year.
There is a lesson to be learned here. Watch CNN and MSNBC fail to grasp it. Again.
