Nancy Pelosi is taking some wind out of the left’s sails. She knows the ‘Green New Deal’ would be rejected by most Americans and she’s showing it by admitting they’re not going to try to pass it.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may think she’s the boss, but she really isn’t.

Pelosi on Green New Deal: ‘I can’t say we’re going to take that and pass it’
The ambitious Green New Deal proposal for combating climate change was dealt another blow Wednesday as Speaker Nancy Pelosi refused to commit to holding a vote on the nonbinding resolution.
“I can’t say we’re going to take that and pass it because we have to go through our checks and balances of it with our committee chairs and the rest,” the California Democrat said when asked about the Green New Deal during a Howard University lecture series.
“We welcome all the enthusiasm that people want to put on the table, and the Green New Deal is one of them, but we have to operate in a way that’s evidence-based, current in its data,” Pelosi said.
The Green New Deal, championed by progressives like freshmen New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, is currently a nonbinding resolution. It outlines ambitious goals for combating climate change like achieving net-zero global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Pelosi suggested that House Democratic and committee leaders will be more focused on developing actual legislation to address the climate crisis rather than passing the nonbinding resolution. The question is about how to translate the enthusiasm for addressing climate change “into legislation, the law of the land,” she said.

That’s going to cause some in-fighting on the left.
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez has been a hot topic at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The Washington Times reports:
Trump’s call to stop Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrats’ socialist agenda resonates at CPAC
Conservative activists are all in on President Trump’s plan to paint Democrats as wild-eyed socialists in the 2020 presidential election, saying that stopping the agenda of Sen. Bernard Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is top priority.
From the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Thursday, Republican members of Congress, Trump administration officials and right-wing leaders said there’s reason for Republican voters to be afraid.
One speaker told the attendees that Ms. Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal would mean the end of hamburgers, since cattle’s flatulence increases levels of methane, a greenhouse gas. The freshman congresswoman has pushed back against those claims, but they’ve stuck.
“This is what Stalin dreamt about but never achieved,” said Sebastian Gorka, former deputy assistant to the president.
The left wants to radically remake America in their image. We can’t let them do it.
