NBC News Defends The Former USSR: “Government Provided For The People” (VIDEO)

NBC News is now re-writing history and washing away the horrors of communism in the former Soviet Union. Millions of people starved to death under communism but NBC News is pining for the days when the government provided everything for the people.

This is astounding historical revisionism.

NBC Gets Nostalgic for USSR, When ‘the Government Provided for the People’

On the June 11 NBC Nightly News, correspondent Lucy Kafanov voiced nostalgia for the days of communism as she reported on poverty in rural Russia.

“It wasn’t always like this,” Kafanov argued. “In the Soviet era, most villagers worked on huge collective farms. Life wasn’t easy, but the government provided for the people.”

Kafanov then showed viewers the yearnings of a Russian woman: “‘It would be so good to live like before,’ she tells me. ‘Under communism, there were plenty of jobs and plenty to eat.'”

This is nothing more than NBC News pandering to the far left base of the Democratic Party which thinks everything should be “free” and provided by the government.

As any student of history knows, life in the Soviet Union was hell. The only people who didn’t have to go without food and other needed items were connected members of the government.
