NEWT GINGRICH: Democrats Being Transformed Into Anti-American And Radical Party

It’s amazing how far left the Democrats have drifted in recent years.

They don’t seem to notice that they’re out of step with most of the country.

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich has always been a keen observer of political trends. He thinks Democrats are in danger as a party.

He writes at FOX News:

Newt Gingrich: Bye Democratic Party – You’re being transformed into an anti-American engine of radical change

Tuesday night’s Democratic presidential candidate debate was one more reminder that we are living through the death of the Democratic Party. It is being replaced by a new Democratic-Socialist Party.

If you think I exaggerate, consider these examples.

Imagine what would have happened if any candidate in the debate had the courage (or lack of sense) to actively defend President Bill Clinton’s policies on welfare reform, capital gains tax cuts and balanced federal budgets, or his 1996 State of the Union assertion that “the era of Big Government is over.”

Imagine that any candidate had agreed with President Barack Obama’s original 2008 position that “I believe marriage is between a man and a woman. I am not in favor of gay marriage.”

Or imagine that a candidate had defended ObamaCare as the solution to health care in America.

When the last two Democratic presidents can no longer be defended by the men and women hoping to become the next Democratic president, something profound has happened.

We have already seen the old Democratic Party (and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California, Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland and Rep. James Clyburn of South Caroline literally represent the old Democratic Party) being eclipsed by “the Squad.”

Here’a an interesting and recent thread from Newt’s Twitter feed:

All excellent questions!
