One of the biggest problems Democrats are going to have to face sooner than later is that their party has been decimated. They have no up and coming stars to run in 2018 or 2020.
Jeremy Peters of the New York Times made the same point on MSNBC.
The Washington Free Beacon reported:
NYT’s Jeremy Peters: ‘There Is No Leadership’ in the Democratic Party
“You’ve got the most important midterm elections maybe since ’06, I would say 1974, who knows. But they are absolutely critical to the future of this Democratic Party,” Scarborough said.
Peters then responded by discussing how he recently tried to give employment advice to a young Democrat.
“Yesterday I was talking to a young Democrat who tried to pick my brain about who should he work for. He was looking at the Iowa caucuses in 2020, and I said, ‘honestly, I have no idea,'” Peters said.
He went on to say that the lack of the Democratic Party’s leadership is “so overwhelming and crippling.”
“There is no leadership, there is such a vacuum, the sclerosis in the Democratic Party is so overwhelming and crippling that they do not have a bench. They do not have leaders,” he said.

To make matters worse, Democrats have shown no interest in learning why they lost so badly in 2016.
They’re in serious trouble.
