To hear the pundits on the Left, the most important thing is that nobody is offended.
They say that “hate speech” should be curtailed.
They say that the speech they find offensive should be limited.

They asked what was more important: Free speech or not offending people?
Americans said free speech was more important.Â

Not only that.
Americans said free speech is worth dying for.
“A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that an overwhelming 85% of American Adults think giving people the right to free speech is more important than making sure no one is offended by what others say. Just eight percent (8%) think it’s more important to make sure no one gets offended.Â
This shows little change from past surveying. Eighty-three percent (83%) think it is more important for the United States to guarantee freedom of speech than it is to make sure nothing is done to offend other nations and cultures.
Seventy-three percent (73%) agree with the famous line by the 18th century French author Voltaire: ‘I disapprove of what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it.’ Only 10% disagree with that statement, but 17% are undecided.”

The overwhelming majority of Americans understand that the First Amendment is for free speech.
Not just the speech people like. Not just the speech that doesn’t offend.
