RIGGING THE GAME: House Democrats Want To Allow Illegal Immigrants And 16 Year-Olds To Vote

In the past few days, Democrats have tried to make it possible for illegal immigrants and 16 year-olds to vote.

It’s almost like they are trying to rig the 2020 election in their favor. Almost.

The effort to let illegal immigrants is going nowhere.

The Washington Times reports:

House votes in favor of illegal immigrant voting

House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.

The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.

“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.

The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.

The effort to let 16 year-olds vote was introduced by a Democrat rep from Massachusetts but was immediately defeated.

The Washington Examiner reports:

House rejects Democratic push to let 16-year-olds vote

The Democratic-led House on Thursday turned down a proposal to let 16-year-olds vote in federal elections, which Republicans said is a plot to put more Democrats in office.

Almost every Republican and nearly half of the Democrats voted against the amendment from Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., and it failed 126-305.

During debate on the idea, Pressley argued Congress needs to lower the voting age so “young people can have a say in federal elections.”

“From gun violence to climate change, our young people are organizing, mobilizing and calling us to action,” she said on the House floor. “They are at the forefront of social and legislative movement and have earned inclusion in our Democracy.”

Republicans disagreed and said Democrats were really trying to create more people who are likely to vote for Democrats.

Let this serve as a reminder that Democrats are willing to do anything to win in 2020.

Even if it means creating new voters.
