One of the amazing things that is happening in American politics in 2021 is seeing corporations side with the woke left, who traditionally hate them.
As a result, many conservatives who have spent years defending corporate America are now saying: You’re on your own.
Senator Ted Cruz recently announced he will no longer accept donations from woke corporations.
The Washington Examiner reports:
Cruz: GOP must reject ‘woke’ corporate donations
Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, calling out “woke” corporations as “fair weather friends” to Republicans, has stepped to the front of a new movement to reject donations from companies eager to stab the GOP in the back to appease the Left.
Citing boardroom attacks by Coca-Cola and Major League Baseball on Georgia’s new voting law as the trigger, Cruz said that he will no longer accept donations from corporate political action committees that don’t support GOP causes, and he called on other members to follow.
And in issuing an ultimatum, Cruz put companies that took GOP-support for granted on notice.
“This time, we won’t look the other way on Coca-Cola’s $12 billion in back taxes owed. This time, when Major League Baseball lobbies to preserve its multibillion-dollar antitrust exception, we’ll say no thank you. This time, when Boeing asks for billions in corporate welfare, we’ll simply let the Export-Import Bank expire,” he wrote in a column published by the Wall Street Journal.

“When the time comes that you need help with a tax break or a regulatory change, I hope the Democrats take your calls, because we may not. Starting today, we won’t take your money either,” he pledged.
Starting today, I no longer accept money from any corporate PAC.
I urge my GOP colleagues to do the same.
For too long, Republicans have allowed the left & their big-business allies to attack our values & ship jobs overseas with no response.
No more.https://t.co/AO5GSqB9RR

Other Republicans would be wise to follow Cruz’s lead here.
It’s important to know who your real allies are.
