Just a few months ago, some people on the left were not only convinced that Oprah Winfrey would run for President in 2020 but that she would win the election.
CNN’s Van Jones said that if Oprah ran she would win all fifty states.
She just threw some cold water on that idea.
Oprah: ‘I will never run for public office’
Famed talk show host Oprah Winfrey does not plan to run for public office.
Winfrey put any speculation that she would to rest this week in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter’s “Awards Chatter” podcast while promoting an HBO drama “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.”
“I will never run for public office,” Winfrey said. “That’s a pretty definitive thing.”
Though President Donald Trump entered politics after having no previous experience in public office, Winfrey said she doesn’t think she will make that same attempt in 2020.
CNN has more:
Winfrey told THR she doesn’t know if she’d win in a race against Trump, but that doesn’t matter.
“I will never have to know the answer to that, because I will never run for public office,” she said.
Winfrey also weighed in on the controversy surrounding talk show host Bill Maher using the “n-word” recently on his HBO show.
“The word should be eliminated from the lexicon” for everyone, Winfrey said.
“I have been on the record being anti the word period,” she added. “Nobody should be allowed to say it.”
Why would Oprah want to run anyway? It’d be a huge pay cut for her.
