Texas Democrat Calls Southern Border In El Paso ‘The New Ellis Island’ (VIDEO)

Most Americans look at people crossing our southern border illegally and think of it as sneaking through the country’s back door.

Not Democrat Rep. Veronica Escobar.

During Kamala’s visit to the border in El Paso, Escobar described the border at the ‘new Ellis Island’ and even described it as America’s front door.

The New York Post reports:

House Dem traveling with Harris gleefully calls El Paso ‘the new Ellis Island’

One of the House Democrats alongside Vice President Kamala Harris on her visit to the “border” — which was actually hundreds of miles from the epicenter of the migrant crisis — gleefully referred to the Texas area they were touring Friday as “the new Ellis Island.”

The eyebrow-raising moment came courtesy of Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas), an ally of President Biden who represents El Paso and was part of Harris’ trip delegation.

After greeting the traveling press and those watching, the Texas lawmaker said with a smile, “Welcome to El Paso. Welcome to my community, to the new Ellis Island, to the capital of the border.”…

“I am standing before you with a heart full of gratitude, Madam Vice President,” she continued, turning to face Harris.

She went on to thank Harris’ delegation and the press corps “for making the journey,” before lavishing praise on the Biden administration over its immigration policies that have triggered hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants a month to rush the border.

Democrats don’t see what’s happening at the border as a crisis.

They’re happy about it.
