Trump on Brexit: “People Want to Take Their Country Back”
Donald Trump addresses the media about the UK vote to leave the European Union from one of his golf courses in Turnberry, Scotland. Trump said he sees big parallels to his U.S. campaign president and the sense of independence in Europe: people want their country back.
“I think there are great similarities between happened here and my campaign,” Trump said Friday morning. “People want to take their country back.”
“I see a big parallel,” Trump said. “I think people really see a big parallel, a lot of people are talking about that. Not only in the United States but other countries. People want to take their country back. They want to have independence in a sense and you see it with Europe, all over Europe.”
“You’re going to have more than just in my opinion what happened last night,” Trump predicted. “You’re going to have I think many other cases where they want to take their borders back. They want to take their monetary [policy] back. They want to take a lot of things back. They want to be able to have a country again. So I think you’re going to have this happen more and more. I really believe that. And I think it’s happening in the United States.”
