Trump Takes The Lead In Key Swing State

A new poll from East Carolina University found that President Trump has taken the lead in North Carolina, a critical battleground state for the 2020 election.

From Breitbart:

President Trump now leads Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden by two points in the key battleground state of North Carolina, 49 percent to 47 percent, according to a poll released by East Carolina University on Tuesday.

The results represent a three point swing towards the president and away from Biden when compared to the most recent poll East Carolina University conducted in June, which gave the former vice president a one point lead over Trump.

He is also doing better with black voters in North Carolina than he did in 2016:

In 2016, President Trump won eight percent support from black voters, so his support among black voters in North Carolina in this poll is five points higher than it was nationally in 2016. That 13 percent support for the president among black voters in North Carolina is lower than the 19 percent to 20 percent support the president receives nationally among those voters, according to three recent polls.

This is not the only poll that has shown an increase in support for President Trump among black voters.

This poll also found President Trump being only down 3 points overall:

A poll from Emerson put President Trump’s support among black Americans at 19%. This is 11% higher than in 2016.

A Hill-Harris poll found a 9% increase in support from black voters. This was just looking at from the beginning of the Republican National Convention to the end of it.

From The Hill:

President Trump’s support among black voters rose 9 percentage points amid the Republican National Convention, a new Hill-HarrisX poll finds.

Twenty-four percent of registered black voters in the Aug. 22-25 survey, which included the first two days of the convention, said they approve of the job Trump is doing as president, while 76 percent said they disapprove.

That is up 9 points from the previous survey conducted Aug. 8-11, where the President received 15 percent support among this group.

A John Zogby Strategies/EMI Research Solutions poll found that Joe Biden has lost 15 points in support among black voters.

From The Washington Examiner:

President Trump’s support from likely black voters is nearly twice what campaign officials believe is needed to win reelection and 15 points under the level Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden needs, according to a new survey.

The latest John Zogby Strategies/EMI Research Solutions poll, which was taken after last week’s Republican National Convention that featured several minority speakers, put Trump’s support from black voters at 20%. For Biden, it is at 75%.

For Trump, that is 12 points more than he received in 2016 and 9 points more than campaign officials believe he needs to keep the White House. One senior official recently told Secrets, “If it’s at 11%, then we win.”
