Jon Voight is a rare man in Hollywood.
He is a patriotic, America-loving, Trump supporting, conservative. You don’t hear about many people like that in the entertainment industry these days.
Now Voight is going to awarded a medal by President Trump.
The Hill reports:
Trump to award National Medal of Arts to actor Jon Voight
The White House announced on Sunday that President Trump will award actor Jon Voight the National Medal of Arts later this week.
Voight, one of Trump’s most vocal Hollywood supporters, will be honored at a White House ceremony on Thursday for his “exceptional capacity as an actor to portray deeply complex characters,” the White House said in a statement.
“Captivating audiences, he has given us insights into the richness of the human mind and heart,” the statement said.
Voight, who won the 1978 Academy Award for best actor for his role in “Coming Home,” has called Trump the “greatest president since Abraham Lincoln.”

“Our country is stronger, safer and with more jobs because our president has made his every move correct,” Voight said of Trump’s presidency in May. “Don’t be fooled by the political left because we are the people of this nation that is witnessing triumph.”
Some of Voight’s colleagues are congratulating him on Twitter:

"I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend." – Thomas Jefferson. Congratulations to my friend Jon Voight. An artist that teaches as he works. https://t.co/I7pt5iOC4D
